A group of intrepid students is to walk almost 10 miles to raise money for a charity close to their hearts.
Soham Village College students Evie Heading, Ami Hedgecock, Saskia Wootton, Kelsey Sauvey, Sophie Mutton and Chloe Ellis, all aged between 11 and 12, are to walk from Mereside in Soham to Ely and back in an attempt to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.
The walkers also want to raise money for research into Friedreich’s ataxia – a disease that causes nervous system and mobility problems – which Saskia’s brother suffers from.
The group is to set off on their 16 kilometre trek at 11.15am on Sunday May 8.
