An Ely man will share his experiences in Asia, Africa, South America and the Middle East when he talks about his new book, ‘A Wayward Spirit’, at Topping’s Bookshop in Ely.

Peter Harris, an Ely-based international education consultant, will visit the bookshop on Wednesday November 16 at 7.30pm.

He worked for the British Tourist Authority, and founded the first international schools in New Zealand and Australia.

Peter was one of only 150 people awarded the New Zealand Commemorative Medal by HM The Queen in 1990 for his services to education.

“Along the way he ventured into religious retreats, sought spiritual experiences in India and treks in Bhutan and Spain - finding a new meaning to life which has led him to raise over £50,000 for charitable causes including a school for ‘children from the dumps’ in Cambodia,” say organisers of the talk.

“Part of the proceeds from sales of ‘A Wayward Spirit’ will be used to pay for teachers at the school.”
