Leaders at a Littleport pre-school have delivered on their promise to turn things around after a disappointing Ofsted report last year.
Staff at Littleport Community Pre-school admitted they felt “deflated” after the school on Parsons Lane was deemed to require improvement in all areas in October 2015, but vowed to “get back on track” and claim a ‘good’ rating in their next inspection.
Twelve months later, the mood at the school is slightly more celebratory after inspector Veronica Sharp rewarded its determination and enthusiasm by labelling it as ‘good’ across all four categories.
Ms Sharp’s report praised the pre-school’s staff, saying they have “willingly embraced” the many changes since the appointment of new manager, Kelly Cox.
Ms Cox’s influence was also hailed, with the report saying that she has “worked tirelessly” to improve the pre-school, and that staff now “demonstrate enthusiastic attitudes.”
The 70 youngsters at the school were described as “sociable” children who “arrive with smiles and enthusiasm,” and make “firm” friendships.
Ms Sharp said in order for the pre-school to become ‘outstanding,’ it must “extend ways to support staff to critically evaluate their own and each other’s teaching skills,” and enhance the way it can “close any gaps” in children’s learning.
