A King’s Ely Junior pupil was one of 1,000 people who took part in an annual charity walk at the weekend.
Jack Cheale, eight, joined the 10km Sunrise Walk in London on June 4 to raise money for the Shooting Star Chase Children’s Hospice.
The hospice cares for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, as well as their families.
The walk started from Richmond Park at 4.30am and Jack participated with a small group of other walkers called Max’s Minions.
They were walking in memory of a boy called Max who passed away in May 2016, who was born with a rare brain tumour. Max and his family were supported by the hospice before he died.
Max’s Minions have raised more than £1,400 so far by completing the walk and the hospice hopes to raise £60,000 from all participants’ sponsorship money.
Richard Whymark, head of King’s Ely Junior, said: “It is always wonderful to see one of our young students demonstrating their compassion for others and I congratulate Jack on his achievement and commitment to this cause.”
