Prickwillow Museum prides itself on telling the story of the changing face of the Fens – and its network of drainage systems and pumping stations – but at the weekend it picked a particular era to celebrate.
The museum decided to go back to the 40s with period clothes, hair and make-up, traditional 1940’s food, music and dancing besides military and domestic vehicles and memorabilia.
Photographer Mike Rouse felt it was “a really lovely event and drawing a good crowd of enthusiasts.
“Peter & Claire White were the driving force behind it with the usual Prickwillow stalwarts who do such a great job.
“The sun shone, the music by Timescape was spot on and there were such great vehicles and costumes.”
Prickwillow Museum, formerly known as the Prickwillow Drainage Engine Museum, is housed in the old pumping station in Prickwillow.
The museum contains a major collection of large diesel pumping engines which have all been restored to working order.
