Judges were out and about in Ely this week casting their eye over the city’s Ely in Bloom competition – but there are still a few weeks until the winners are revealed.
The annual competition, which this year has a colour scheme of pastel pink, blue and mauve, is organised by city councillor, Alison Arnold and its committee.
A panel of judges gathered on Wednesday (26 July) to score the city’s floral efforts out of 10 ahead of the competition’s big reveal at the council’s Market Street offices on August 16.
“The committee work throughout the year to ensure that the city comes alive during the spring and summer months whilst maintaining the other areas throughout the autumn and winter,” said a spokesman.
Tea for Two scooped last year’s best shop front prize, while Fairfax Court was crowned the overall winner.
