SE Cambs MP Lucy Frazer met with the Parliamentary under secretary of state for roads, local transport and devolution this week to push for two local junctions to be included in the Government’s Road Investment Strategy 2 (RIS 2).
In their meeting with Jesse Norman MP, Ms Frazer and West Suffolk MP Matt Hancock highlighted the significance of junction 47 of the A14/A142 and junction 38 of the A14/A11 to the region’s economy, as well as pressing Mr Norman to prioritise them when deciding which roads should benefit from RIS 2.
The first phase of the strategy saw £15.2 billion pumped into 100 road improvement schemes across the country.
Ms Frazer said: “I intend to keep up the pressure on the Government to include our roads in the RIS 2 and am determined to work closely with local authorities to put together the strongest possible bids when it comes to applying to be part of the strategic road network.”
Ms Frazer also spoke about the need for the A10 to be included in the Major Road Network as one of the country’s roads in most need of investment and improvement.
The Major Road Network is a separate programme of government investment in a ‘second tier’ of the country’s most economically important ‘A’ roads.
