An Ely dog café has been championed by the Starbucks Community Café programme which supports local community spaces.
The K9 Community Café, which meets Thursday mornings from 10am to 12noon at the Cathedral Centre on Palace Green, will be able to order coffee, tea and milk jugs as a result of the partnership.
Chris Kent, who set up the K9 Community Café three years ago, said: “We are a community group run by entirely by volunteers and regularly run school holiday acitivities, fund raising stalls, and mini dog shows and fun days.
“We provide a safe, welcoming place for dogs and their owners. Or if someone doesn’t have a dog they can come and meet people. You don’t have to have a dog but you do need to like them.
“This partnership will really help us keep our running costs down to a minimum. “
The main focus of the K9 Cafe is to support those who are socially isolated, experience anxiety or depression, have other mental health problems, or maybe just like to come and meet other dog lovers.
