HERE we go again. A light fall of snow, below freezing temperatures and what happens? Our councillors in their wisdom, decide that the main routes should be salted and kept open. My point is, what about the other poor souls who don t live on main routes?

For the second year running, the minor roads around Ely have been left totally untreated. We, the residents of Beald Way, have one way in or out of Ely by road, namely up the hill from the bottom of Fieldside. Have we seen a gritter? You must be joking. Have the footpaths been treated? Again, you must be joking. I pay my Council Tax the same as other people, so would one of our councillors please explain to me why our roads and footpaths do not get treated?. Having slipped and fallen twice now on untreated footpaths, should it happen again and I injure myself I shall seriously consider suing the council for dereliction of duty.

I was a district and town councillor before moving to Ely from Berkshire so please do not try and flannel me, just for once give an honest answer. With the by-election coming up on January 19 perhaps someone will find time to reply. From recent history I somehow doubt it!.
