POLICE have recovered a teenager's stolen car thanks to the Ely Standard.
But Luke Martin's final year's college work, which had been left in the car, was missing when the vehicle was discovered abandoned in Ely's Tower Court.
A member of the public tipped off the police after reading about 18-year-old Luke's plight in the Standard two weeks ago.
He had left his Ford Escort parked on his driveway in Ely's Longchamps Drive when it was stolen. Inside was assessment work for his final year of a motor mechanics' course at Cambridge Regional College.
Luke's mum Bridget said: "We believe the newspaper article was instrumental in the recovery of the vehicle.
"We really didn't expect to see it again.
"Cambridge Regional College has been very supportive of the missing work, sending the newspaper article to the examiners and writing statements on Luke's behalf."
A juvenile was arrested, interviewed and bailed by police.
