ST Peter's Church gave an early welcome to Easter Sunday with an Ecumenical dawn celebration at 5.30am in a field at the back of the rectory in Wilburton with a background of bird song and gradually lightening skies. Canon Fiona Brampton led the service with contributions from other churches present. At the conclusion of the service Rosemary, Lady Hughes invited us to an early, very welcome, breakfast of hot drinks and hot cross buns.
At 11am, there was an all-age celebration of Holy Communion. The Revd Matthew Bradbury was the celebrant and the deacon was Canon Fiona Brampton who also preached the sermon and assisted at the altar. Anne Samuel read the New Testament lesson and Rosemary, Lady Hughes, read the Epistle and assisted at the altar, and Roger Brunning read the passage from the Gospel
We have a link with Vellore, in India, and on April 21 there will be a chance to meet Bishop William, Bishop in Vellore, in an informal context, at 7.30pm, in Holy Trinity Church, Haddenham. All are welcome and a plate of food to share would be appreciated.
On Sunday (April 23) there will be a service of Holy Communion at 9.15am
