OAKINGTON'S history will put under the spotlight when Ralph Warboys, the village historian, gives an illustrated presentation to the Fenland History on Friday. Ralph remembers the drought in 1934 when water from the village pump was restricted to domestic use only. A photographer snapped him and his dad taking some to keep their cattle alive. The meeting at Ely Library starts at 10.15am and runs till noon. Admission is £2 on the door.
