FORMER naval chief officer John Cutcliffe has launched a search for his second in command ... 50 years after they last met.
John believes George Christopher Craze could still be living in the Cambridgeshire area after leaving the Navy to take up farming in about 1956.
The pair served together for about a year but when John, who now lives in Bideford, north Devon, went off to East Africa with his ship, George returned to civilian life.
George was godfather to John's son, Simon, but the pair have not seen each other for 50 years.
Now, at the age of 83, John is searching for his former second officer and has appealed to Ely Standard readers in the hope that they will know the whereabouts of George or his family.
George came from Hampshire originally but is believed to have settled somewhere in Cambridgeshire.
