A spectacular Bollywood-style show took place at the Lantern School in Ely.
The evening started with pupils, aged between four and eight, performing a dance and play about Diwali, a Hindu festival known as the festival of lights, that symbolises the victory of good over evil.
Darsha Noon, who helped to organise the event, said: "The children were magnificent, it looked like a professional show. It is difficult for some children to get up and dance in front of 100 people but they have worked hard."
Mrs Noon and two adults then performed a classical Indian dance. The evening finished with live Indian music from London-based band, Strings.
Whatley Lane Solicitors from Newmarket sponsored the event and the catering was provided by Lailita Acharya, ensuring that more than £800 was raised for the Lantern School. The money is to be spent on awnings for the playground, to provide the children with shelter.
