HADDENHAM Parish Council has been given a national award in recognition of its role in the community.
The council was presented with a Quality Status certificate last month by district council chairman, Cllr Richard Hobbs.
The parish council was approved for quality status in October under government initiative The Quality Parish and Town Council Scheme, which encourages local councils to show residents they are capable of operating in an ethical way and are able to represent community interests.
An application was made, demonstrating that the council met seven different criteria, and Haddenham now joins Sutton as the only parish councils in the district to achieve quality status.
Parish clerk Jenny Manning said: "Haddenham Parish Council is very proud to have achieved this award and will continue to serve the parishioners of Haddenham and Aldreth to the best of its ability. "The award will enable the Council to move forward and take on additional responsibilities and powers to improve local services.
