FRIDAY was the Women's World day of Prayer. This service was chaired by Betty Riley and the invited speaker was the governor of a women's prison in Suffolk. The theme was women in Paraguay and the drama was enacted by ladies of all three churches. After the service, tea was served by the men. Sunday's service was held in the Baptist church when the two congregations worshipped together and the preacher was the minister of the Ely Methodist circuit, the Rev Steve Watts; this Saturday, the monthly cake and coffee morning will be held and March quizzes will be on sale. Winners for February were: general knowledge, Jill Gibb from Deeping St James and the cryptic winner was Peter Saillard of Hop Row. Hymns from the Heart will be held at Wilburton Baptist Church on Wednesday evening at 7.30pm when Peter Kirby will explain and accompany hymns old and new. It is hoped there will be a record crowd of singers as there will be no hymns evening in April. Hymns for May, June and July will be held at Haddenham Methodist Church.
