CAMPAIGNER Ed Mullenger is planning a sponsored snorkel swim along 17 miles of the river from Ely to Cambridge to mark World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on June 15.
Ed, 50, of High Barns, Ely, hopes the event will raise cash to help fight the abuse of the elderly and raise awareness of the problem.
He will be contacting local groups and schools, asking them to get involved by running activities to mark the awareness day, which has been launched by the International Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse.
Ed travelled to Westminster recently to take part in a national lobby of MPs to raise awareness of the abuse of the elderly and call for elderly protection to be put on the same level as child protection.
Anyone interested in taking part in Ed's fund-raising can contact him for a registration form at ed@elderprotection.co.uk or phone the charity Action on Elder Abuse on 020 8765 7000.
