WORK started on Monday on a £410,000 package of schemes due to improve roads and footpaths in Sutton.
Kerbing and footways are being rebuilt at a cost of £350,000 in The Brook and Ely Road and temporary traffic lights have been installed.
The work is expected to take until early October after which time, two weeks of resurfacing work will take place on both roads which will be closed to traffic.
A £90,000 scheme to resurface The Americas and make improvements to the carriageway between its junction with Bury Lane and Chain Causeway will be carried out from mid- October.
This will mean a road closure and will coincide with the resurfacing of The Brook and Ely Road to reduce disruption.
