WITCHFORD Youth Team will be competing for £45,000 after receiving a prestigious award.
The group, which takes part in various singing, dancing, acting and music shows, received £6,242 for winning the Youth Banks Award for East Cambridgeshire.
The money will be spent on an anti-teenage drinking musical drama and a festival at the British Legion in Sutton in July.
The Youth Banks awards is a new scheme run by the Cambridgeshire Community Foundation that funds projects that give young people something to do or places to go.
The Witchford Youth Team, whose members are aged from 10 to 19, won the district award after having an application then a dance show, at the Parkside School in Cambridge, reviewed.
Youth worker Vicki Bailey, who helps run the group, said: "The judges told us that we absolutely blew them away. They were particularly impressed by how we bring such a wide range of ages together and how the group is run by young people, who are all in their 20s."
The Witchford Youth Team will compete with three other groups for the Youth Banks Award for Cambridgeshire when a £45,000 prize will be on offer. The date and venue is to be confirmed.
