LIAM'S Fund has received a welcome boost from the Wilburton Beer Festival.
Alan Brierley and his colleagues on the festival committee handed over a cheque for £1,000 to the fund following their successful beer and cider weekend in June. Mr Brierley gives a tonne of surplus apples from his 20-tree orchard to a Cambridge-based cider manufacturer who in return, supplies the village-green based festival with the finished cider.
Next year will be the tenth anniversary of the Wilburton Beer Festival and the 10-strong organising committee will again donate all profits to local organisations.
This year, Liam's Fund and the Milton Hospice, our charity of the year last year, both received cheques for £1000 with £250 going to Burwell Scouts.
