CHRISTMAS might seem a long way away, but preparations are being made for this year's lights display and volunteers are needed.
Work will start at the beginning of November, but a date has not yet been set.
The big switch-on will be on November 30.
Councillor Nora Covell, head of City of Ely Council's Christmas Lights Team, said: "It will take us about four weeks to complete the job but we're looking for people to give up whatever time they can. There will be no technical work required, it will just be helping to move things around and switching on light bulbs."
Cllr Covell added that she hoped to expand the display from last year.
She said: "The lights display has traditionally covered the Market Square, the High Street and Market Street. This year, we plan to cover Forehill as well."
City of Ely Council has put forward £10,000 to pay for equipment.
INFO: Anyone interested in helping put up the Christmas lights display should contact Cllr Covell on 01353 667184 or City of Ely Council on 01353 661016.
