AN IT salesman from Ely ran alongside elite athletes and celebrities when he took part in the Great North Run on Sunday.
Neil O'Connor was in the company of the likes of England football manager Steve McClaren and celebrity brainbox Carole Vorderman.
He raised about £200 for the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development, the official aid agency of the Catholic Church in England and Wales, by completing the 13-mile run from Newcastle to South Shields.
The 26-year-old from Kings Avenue said: "It was a great race. I wrote my name on my vest and people were shouting support the whole way round - it made such a difference and really spurred me on. But the real highlight was definitely high-fiveing Bobby Robson as I crossed the finishing line.
