THE Town Forum has been saved, in its 10th year, by a new committee.

Donna Martin will take over as chairman, but Peter Beer has handed in his notice as vice-chairman. Members are still seeking a treasurer and events co-ordinator.

Over the next year residents are encouraged to come forward and discuss the campaign for a railway station in Soham, car parking, and the project to revitalise Soham.

Mrs Martin said: "All Soham residents have an open invitation to attend. The forum was originally set up as an open meeting, and a regular opportunity for Soham residents to discuss local matters with their town and district councillors. The forum should also provide an opportunity for councillors to gauge local opinion. It is time to get back to grass roots."

At the monthly meeting of the town council, chairman Christopher Palmer agreed to schedule a meeting with the Soham Town forum chairman to discuss co-operation.

The next meeting of Soham Town Forum is at the Pavilion on March 13.
