Champion chess players from the Rackham School in Witchford celebrated medal-winning success in the first round of national chess championships on Saturday.
After an exhausting 6am start, the under 11-s team emerged victorious to win gold against players from Yorkshire and Lincolnshire schools at the Grimsby-based tournament. Under-9s walked away with bronze, and both teams have qualified for the national semi finals in June.
