THE Ely Standard received a visit from the newly-formed Witchford Press Club two weeks ago.
The Year 9 pupils, who had been specially selected for the new club, learnt how to write news articles, how a local newsroom functions, and were even able to write their names in shorthand thanks to a lesson from reporter Catherine Atkinson.
Catherine said: "Since they started meeting just a few weeks ago, the press club has already produced some great work - including an extremely well-written report on their school football tournament.
"They also scored very highly in a sub-editing quiz designed for sixth form students and were model students to have in a newsroom. I hope they will take some of the lessons learned today to start producing a great school newsletter for Witchford Village College."
