PLANS for 159 new homes on the former Littleport School site were due to be discussed by planners yesterday (Wednesday).

The scheme by Persimmon Homes would include a mixture of flats and houses with 112 being sold to private buyers and 47 affordable homes.

Concerns have been raised by the parish council and neighbours worried that a planned play area will become a "loitering point for local youths" and there will be increased demand for school places and doctor's services.

East Cambridgeshire District Council officers recommended that planning committee members delegate approval of the project to the development director or head of planning at a later date following the successful completion of a Section 106 agreement on open space or other amenities.
