YOUR SAY: ‘I have found that Mrs Dix has been an asset to the college’

As a parent having two children, now 27 and 25 years-old, who have gone through Ely College in the times where Ely’s reputation was somewhat poor, I am saddened that now Ely College will go through uncertain times.

As a parent having two children, now 27 and 25 years-old, who have gone through Ely College in the times where Ely’s reputation was somewhat poor, I am saddened that now Ely College will go through uncertain times.

We all have our own opinions of how the school has been run these last few years and all I can say is that after the 2013 Ofsted there should have been a period of settlement and consolidation.

I have now a 14-year-old who is in year ten and doing extremely well. This is down to a number of things and the firstly being that he is in a minority who can understand and digest information and turn it into results.

Secondly there are a number of excellent teachers who have been instrumental in his progress over the last four years, some still there, other now gone.

I have found that Mrs Dix has been an asset to the college, and has taken it to a level where it can recover, but unfortunately below her there have been senior managers who were difficult to get hold of and with their reluctance to resolve problems I have found this area poor. These two have now resigned also.

I do wish Mrs Dix all the best for the future.
