IT is heart warming to hear this week that all the Remembrance Day services in the area were well supported with larger than average attendances. Our photographs on Pages 6 and 7 and on our website also shows that support comes from young and old. Everyone from war veterans with their medals gleaming in the autumn sun to cubs and brownies and young air cadets who will remember the day they marched through the streets with people cheering them on. It is these young people who will ensure that all the men who gave their lives so valiantly and continue to do so in current conflicts across the globe are remembered for many years to come. I would also like to congratulate our new mayor, Richards Hobbs, who has successfully fund-raised for some new plaques for the War Memorial which contain the names of all the men who have died in conflict since the two world wars. Well done Richard it looks stunning.

MORE thanks to Rupert Russell this week who helped to make me feel young again! (No mean feat, I assure you). Rupert was the organiser of the Real Thing concert at The Maltings on Friday night and what a superb night it was. Great music, great venue and lots of ladies of my sort of age boogie-in on down as if the clock had been turned back and they were 17 years old, dressed in a midi-skirt and hoping the boy with the Ford Capri was going to come over and ask them out. Okay, I accept that may have just been me, but it was great fun and a packed house suggests lots of other people thought so too.
