Wind turbines are like rabbits - if not opposed they will breed. That’s why I oppose Aldreth plan
Most people who live by choice in the Ely area are not surprised that residents are one of the happiest groups in the whole Country.
One of the reasons for this has been our spectacular views over open countryside.
As a local man (I was born and bred in Wilburton) I love and cherish the “big sky” views we experience when looking over the fen landscape.
I own an Anthony Day painting that captures this feeling of an ever changing sky.
I am appalled by the vandalism that is being proposed by the plan to erect four wind turbines near Aldreth which will be twice the height of Ely Cathedral and visible for many miles.
The current application (13/01102/FUL), which is now with East Cambridgeshire District Council, is for only one small scale anemometer but this is just a trial for the big ones.
Wind turbines are like rabbits - if not opposed they will breed. This cannot happen - wind turbines are less harmful when located offshore.

There are many strong and compelling arguments against these “things” which will be clarified over the coming weeks but initially I comment on the damage to our countryside.
I oppose this dreadful scheme and support the group of residents who are working to prevent this damage to the area we love.
