FRANKEL the world’s best racehorse will be given a public workout at Betfred Cambridgeshire Day at Newmarket Racecourse - and you could be there to witness it.

Racegoers on Saturday September 29 will now not only see a pair of Group One races, a Group Two contest and the historic Betfred Cambridgeshire Heritage Handicap.

They are also set to get the chance to watch the Sir Henry Cecil-trained superstar, which has won all of its 13 races, in action at the Rowley Mile Course.

Frankel’s trainer Sir Henry Cecil said: “All going well, Frankel will have a racecourse gallop at Newmarket one hour before racing on September 29 in his preparation for the Champion Stakes at Ascot on October 20.”

Betfred Cambridgeshire Day gets underway at 2pm, so the approximate time of Frankel’s gallop will be 1pm.

Frankel’s appearance promises to provide even more sparkle to a superb day’s racing at Newmarket. The seven-race card features the Group One Kingdom of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes and the Group One Jaguar Cars Cheveley Park Stakes.

Michael Prosser, Newmarket’s director of racing, said: “We are delighted that it is the intention of connections for Frankel to work on Betfred Cambridgeshire Day at Newmarket.

“Frankel galloped with us in similar circumstances on QIPCO 2000 Guineas day and that was very well received by racegoers.

“We are now set to provide the public with another chance to see the world’s best racehorse in action, albeit not in competition.”

There will also be a variety of children’s entertainments, making Cambridgeshire Day the perfect familiy day out.

On-the-day tickets cost 40 (Premier Enclosure), 21 (Grandstand & Paddock) and 10 (Rowley Enclosure). Discounts are available on advance purchases and children under 18 are admitted free to all enclosures during the festival.
