I HAVE lived in Ely for 30 years and have always been happy and proud to live in a lovely area. Until last week. I was in a local coffee bar and overheard a group, who were obvious visitors, talking about Ely - saying it looked 'run down'. The topic of the conversation was the eyesore in Market Street. Isn't it time someone from the council (planning) came forward to explain to the residents how the people responsible for this abomination are not forced to do something constructive with it. Or is there a reason the public cannot be told?
