I AM currently doing research into the Soham Railway Station explosion of June 2, 1944.
Ken Issacson in his latest book Home Sweet Soham mentions that his brother Eric, a fireman with the National Fire Service, received a payment of two guineas from the London North Eastern Railway for valuable assistance that night.
I would be interested to know if anyone else received a payment? If so, who were they and how much?
