ALTHOUGH it is great to see the community support officers on the streets in Ely during the day, I am a little bemused as to why there is no policing on the streets during the evening.
On many occasions on my way home at night, I have had to give way to a 'barry boy' racing down Broad Street at 50mph or swerve out of the way as they drive down the middle of the road.
It seems to be getting worse and the staff car park at Tesco has become a hang-out for cars at night and local industrial estates are still being used for doing 'doughnuts' and drag racing. It's no wonder there are so many accidents and young deaths on the roads.
The main culprits seem to be young lads who find driving round corners as fast as possible some kind of fun. Who gave these people driving licences?
