NEVER have I ever known Welney Wash road to be flooded for so long at a time. Most of the flooding is down to mismanagement of the river bank. Fifty or so years ago the sluice was controlled by pumps and the floods never lasted for many days. There is absolutely no need for the Wash head to have flooded for this amount of time. Information given out on local television tells us that the Wash is passable and it is not.
I don't think that the Environment Agency cares about people having to make a 50-mile-round trip to work. It is no good the Environment Agency building banks to keep the water out; the fact is that the area needs cleaning out. Modern technology does not seem to work in these cases.
