WHAT depressing reading the latest election results make. I moved to this area around five years ago and have witnessed housing development that has lacked imagination, common sense and, most importantly, had a detrimental effect on the quality of life of everyone who has had to suffer it.
I, for one, was struck by the lack of real choice when placing my ëxí last Thursday and reluctantly voted for a party that has the same ideology as the other main parties. We all know that our local councillors are unable to make decisions that can change the quality of our lives as the present Government have all but centralised decision making.
I just hope that when Mr Brown takes the helm he will have the courage and dignity to call a general election and begin the process of engaging in an informed debate about important issues such as housing development which at present are profoundly damaging the quality of life for a growing number of people on this small island.
