NOW that the precious Roswell Pits area of water and green space has gone to an unknown buyer, all Ely residents need to be on the alert for development on the site. This could be such a loss to our community if we are not careful.
Nearer to home, we have another green area with space for games and picnics and wildlife too at Cresswells Pocket Park.
This is already a charming area, but too little known and used. When the riverside is heaving with tourists, it's our own space which is peaceful and pleasant.
How many even know where it is - accessible through the Fisherman's and Cresswells Lane car parks and Lisle Lane?
Such places are treasures to be guarded. 'Use them or lose them' is often said. Don't let it come true in Ely.
