One of the functions of our friends in the Grange appears to be tourism. This department doesn't seem to be too busy here in Soham. So, perhaps, we should blow our own trumpet a bit. First we could address the good people of Littleport. It's a great pity there will be no show this year, it was always a good day out, but if they want a good day out Soham's carnival is going from strength-to-strength. This year's event on May 29 will have a French theme to mark the town's twinning with Andréziéux-Bouthéon near Lyons. If international cultural exchange doesn't appeal to people from Littleport there will be a beer tent and a rock band or two. The parade of floats should keep the youngsters amused. So will the Soham majorettes who will, no doubt, welcome recruits from Littleport as their troop is disbanding, apparently.

We may be able to attract some tourists from Newmarket, too. We may not have as many shops as you will find there, but at least we have free parking in two car parks with lifting-up things at their entrances.

There, we managed that without any help from the tourism department; any chance of A Rebate On The Council Tax For Soham? No, Thought Not.
