I WRITE to comment on your recent story about local rural post offices under threat. We have a sub Post Office here in Chapeltown, County Down.
It would be awful to think that this post office would close. There are a lot of elderly folk who use it.
There are only three buses. If we were to go into Ardglass we have no way back for hours. There are more houses being built here all the time so that means more people would use the Chapeltown Post Office.
I have arthritis and find it hard enough to go to Chapeltown. I think it is unfair for local post offices to close. I need to get my money here every week and there are a lot of people without cars or transport.
Could you picture an 80-year-old having to travel to get her pension or a postal orders or to pay bills. Please keep post offices open. GERALDINE McMULLAN
