MANY of our friends share our opinion that while we welcome Lidl to Ely, we do not think the proposed site is a good one because of traffic problems. Also they only propose to have parking for 70 cars.
If so many people intend using them, surely some will have to park in Tesco, making it more difficult there. We would also like to see Morrisons, or if not, Sainsbury's or Asda on the A10/A142 side of Ely. There are many villages on this side of Ely and new housing all the way to Littleport, who would like this and it would save a lot of traffic going into or around Ely for their weekly shop.
We need an upmarket supermarket on our side instead of having to travel around the other side.
