Actually it should be Rhythm for EACH. On Saturday there is a dance at the Comrades Club to raise money for the East Anglian Children's Hospices. It appears that EACH, Milton, being the relevant one to us, has been relying on lottery grants, and now that the government has pulled the plug on them, are having to cut back severely on their services to stricken children and their families. It's easy to get annoyed at the way lottery money is spent at times, but essentially it is to buy things, not to run them (apart from supporting athletes who sometimes manage to come ninth, that is). Whatever the rights and wrongs the kids need our support so Saturday night's 'do' is more than a good cause. Nip along to Market Street and you can see well thought of local rockers, Akimbo and the Strays, for a measly £5 a head. Jackie and John tell me that there will be a pretty good draw too.

If you like your music a little gentler then try the folk night at the Fountain on Monday. There is usually a good turn-out of performers whose repertoires range from traditional to humorous to Elton John and Paul Weller covers. You can even have a go yourself. It's free and there's a bar conveniently in the next room.
