I WAS interested in your photograph of poet Denis Griffiths and other veterans published in the Ely Standard (November 12).
The unknown Polish veteran was Jan Michalak who was a commando serving with General Anders Second Polish Corp in Italy. My own father, who was no relation, served with the First Polish Armoured Division, Polish First Corp. Jan's grandson was apprenticed to me in the building trade. Sadly Jan passed away about three years ago.
