THE council planners have completely lost the plot. All they have been worried about is the building of houses, and the lack of forsight has now come to haunt them.
The old Tesco site should have been used for parking along with the old Unwins site, not for the building of new houses, both would have been within easy walking distance of the city centre.
Instead, we see the building of a car park, on the outskirts of the city, on an industrial site, which the access will be off a road that is already over congested.
Those using it will be subjected to a charge, a long walk, the crossing of a main road, hardly pedestrian friendly. With the recent criminal activity and thefts on this site, you could return and find your car gone or damaged.
Oh, and don't bother asking the police, as they have already said there is nothing they can do.
Welcome to Ely!
