IN reply to your story Drink Drive Pc faces the sack (Ely Standard, January 18), in the same situation, the simple and safe thing to do would have been to call someone to come and drive the car, not drive it two and a half times over the limit. He ignored all common sense, so however outstanding his character is it shouldn't make any difference. He should be treated the same as anyone else in that situation.

All you need to do is ask anyone what the sensible thing to do would be under the circumstances.

It is clear he didn't behave appropriately for a member of the force, which under oath he swore he was, even off-duty. He should lose his job.
