I WAS surveying the estate the other day when a lady I know was walking past on the path. As we were exchanging a few pleasantries she stumbled and almost fell in a small pothole that was developing in the tarmac. Another part of the 22.5% of the paths that need repairing.
On the off-chance that this might be a bit that they could put right within their targets, I called the highways authority to report it. After some nice music, I spoke to a lady who seemed very interested, especially when I told her that my friend almost fell over. I must admit that I wasn't very optimistic - highways authority - Cambs County Council - Soham not on the CCC map.
Wrong again! That same day a chap appeared with a load of cold asphalt and made a pretty good job of repairing the path. It is now safe to walk and talk at the same time on Fordham Road. Well done the highways authority!
