ELY Sailing Club, a current tenant of Roswell Pits, has seldom been mentioned in discussions about the future of this idyllic place. Mr Paice, however, supports the demise of sailing (now in its 61st year at the Pits) in favour of hundreds of exhaust-belching motor boats. The sailing club has fostered and conserved the flora and fauna of the area, and provided scores of the children of Ely and district with a healthy place to grow up in and a clean sport.
Mr Paice is certainly 'out of step', as you put it, this time.
