But I am sure they wouldn’t mind me reserving my greatest thanks for the huge number of people who came along and took part in the debate.

I WOULD like to say a big ‘thank you’ to everyone involved in the public meeting last Thursday in the council chamber. There are so many people to thank. I would, of course, like to thank our wonderful speakers, and all those who worked tirelessly to organise the event behind the scenes. But I am sure they wouldn’t mind me reserving my greatest thanks for the huge number of people who came along and took part in the debate. There were an impressive number of memorable contributions from the floor. I’m really pleased that so many people finally got a chance to speak out on what is a clearly a very important and emotive issue for the community. People came from a wide area in East Cambrigeshire to show their support for the campaign. I apologise if you were one of those who could not get a reservation to the meeting this time around.

The meeting sent a clear message to the council’s conservative group. They should very carefully consider all the points raised by the public before rushing to vote on this issue.
