I FEEL I must reply to the letter from the ‘Sutton resident’ published on August 18 concerning the Sutton Parish Council election. The resident is very privileged to be aware that half of the successful candidates are people who have lived in the village for more than a few years. Apparently, there were 17 candidates for 11 seats. Only two leaflets came through the letterbox and therefore my husband and I abstained from voting as we did not feel we could make an informed decision. Interestingly my daughter, who also lives in Sutton, received four leaflets which led us to believe that the candidates were picking and choosing the roads they wanted to deliver to. I suggest the reason there was only a 19.4% turnout was due to the complete lack of information.
