WHEN I was a junior in Miss. Dowdeswell's class at the Shade School I never dreamed that the bloke who sat next to me at the back of the class was going to turn into a Gooner. Once a week the whole class would troop down to the Town Ground for football practice and charge about on the same field where his dad represented the club and mine was club secretary. He became a successful builder, and I'm not sure what I became (quiet at the back, there).

Now, after quietly but very effectively helping and guiding the club over several years he's giving up the chairmanship to go and watch Arsenal. On behalf of the fans of Soham Town I'd like to thank Colin Murfitt for his efforts and look forward to seeing him at Julius Martin Lane again when he feels liking watching Englishman play football.
