AS of April 16, Stagecoach have altered the way they run the buses. Times and routes have changed, as far as I can see, not for the better. It's a bit of a job to tell when you can get on a bus in Soham these days as the little booklets that are available in town are meant for Newmarket and only have Newmarket times in them. Consequently you need to guess how long it takes to get from there to the local bus stop you wish to use. Never mind, it might not rain while you are waiting.

There is a nice little map in the booklet showing how the routes run through Newmarket. It appears that only one bus now passes what is left of White Lodge Hospital now, the no. 11. So if you need to go to White Lodge for a bit of physio or an x-ray you can get straight to the door. Wrong! The no. 11 doesn't appear to come through Soham, only the 11 and 12. Not to worry, you can go to the Rookery and change. Of course, this will probably mean standing about waiting for a 10, but it will be good physio for your bad leg. And it might not be raining there, either.

The more I learn about public transport the more I am thankful that I have an alternative.
