LESS than a week after the sporadically soggy carnival, the grass on the Rec seems to be recovering well. All being well, it should be in prime condition again in time for the Pumpkin Fair at the end of September. This year it celebrates its silver jubilee and will host the national championships.
Although the grass will probably be fine for the Pumpkin Fair, the Pavilion might be another case altogether. Some time last week some candidates for the town be-heading ceremony decided that there were too many down pipes on the building and pulled a number of them off. It must take a very special brain to work out how to break a piece of plastic piping. As long as they haven't got to the toilets the beer festival on Saturday should be okay. So where were the CCTV operators while it was going on?
